DPW Layoff Article by Sarah Craft

By hitting the link below, you can see an article written by Sarah Craft of the Waukesha Freeman regarding the issue of DPW layoffs.  I sure hope Marilyn, Diane and I win, or I'm afraid Mr. Salentine will lose his job for being candid.

Please pass this around the community!

God bless you Doug!  Sometimes all it takes for tyranny to get a foothold is for good people to remain silent.  Thanks for being an honest, good person Doug.

  3. Someone needs to put those facts on one of the 2 political articles on the chiefs website. People need to know what Bird & Craig are doing.

  4. Tom, Joe, Kurt, Bill, Fred,
The problem with you guys is you think everyone has “STUPID” written across their foreheads! You have been moving money from numerous accounts to pay for the Fire Dept. blunder that you created. So let’s start from the beginning. Tom is placed in charge of the Bidding process for equipment. This is probably the most important part of the breakup. I have to assume that not one of you (Joe, Kurt, Bill, Fred) check to see what he was up too. I mean he is your fearless leader and there is no way he is going to screw this up. Well he DOES!! Now what do you do? You put him in charge of the second round of bidding. Were he loses some of the better Fire- trucks and vehicles. He does manage to purchase a vehicle that was worth $29,000 for a mere $80,000. You see at this point a reasonable person would have’ d talk to Tom and explain why it would benefit the Town if he just kept away from anything that had to do with Money and Math. Not you guys (Joe, Kurt, Bill, Fred) with the extreme intelligence you guys possess, you put Tom in charge of running the Fire Dept. Budget for this year (Good Call!). Now that the bills are coming and the money is running out. You went and screwed 2 families from the DPW. I know you plan on using that money to pay off the Fire Dept. Bills. Here is the thing, I approved the DPW budget in the Towns budget meeting and I also approved the Fire Dept. Budget. You know the meeting where the CITIZENS APPROVE THE BUDGET! So, at the end of this year I want to see the DPW Budget in the black equaling the amount saved by releasing the 2 employs of the Town. For your information that’s why you have budgets to see were the money is being spent. The SAD part of all this is, Tom is willing to screw these families just so he wouldn’t have to say HE SCREW UP!!!

  5. This is my first post to a blog ever, I just want to make a few comments to the post above because of a few things that are mentioned. The reference to a $29,000 vehicle that was purchased for $80,000, I assume it is the understanding of “Anonymous” that 1188 was purchased as a truck only. All of the trucks where bid on “as equipped” it is important to point out that that truck had tens of thousands of dollars of medical equipment on it. That truck was a “must have” for the Paramedic system that the Vernon FD now has. As far as the bidding on the other vehicles I can only tell you what my views where based on, if a fire truck is worth $400,00 dollars and we are anticipating a life of 20 years of service you just break down the dollars/per year. $400,000/20= $20,000 per year as a cost. When trucks that are 11 years old sold for $380,000 it did not make sense to me to spend that kind of money on a truck with nine years of life left. This is the only item that I can speak to without speculation. Although we all have different political views I do wish everyone luck this Tuesday with their political endeavors, ALL of you are willing to jump into a arena that I would not. :) No way!!!
